A wedded weekend

Here was the alter of my church this weekend. Not your typical alter I know, however, it's with good reason that decorative adjustments were made. This Saturday marked the wedding of two former SPG's Chris & Anna.

It's hard to believe that a year has passed since Dave & Amber's wedding, but it has and with the end of that year the commencement of a new marriage took place. There were a few elements to it that were not traditional of most weddings, but it just spoke to the personalities of the couple and it all worked wonderfully. Sigh, it was a lovely afternoon.

The colors: Champange & Persimmon
This was a new element that I had not seen in a ceremony berfore. Rather than light a unity candle the couple braided a 3 fold cord. The scriptures that Pastor Sargent read from were in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12,"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken." And so with such a scripture it was fitting that this should be the sybol that they used to signify their unity.

Finally after many years of knowing each other it was all sealed with a kiss. Look at the flower girls though. Ha ha ha, she looks a little confused.
Also there was not a cake to be found for the couple had pie. Chris had always wanted a wedding pie, vice cake, and well...he got it. Obviously I couldn't have any, but look at how cute this idea worked out.
Shadows waiting on the get away car.

Like I said it was a lovely afternoon. Sunny and 75 degrees, not typical for this time of year, but great for a wedded weekend.

Oh and guess who caught the bouquet. . . that's right. . . yours truly. Before I start getting more jokes about how many people I had to pummel & drop kick in order to get it let me just say that is not my style. Honestly, I dread this tradition, and mark my words I won't be performing it at my wedding, but in the spirit of the day I participate. At least all the ladies standing around were age appropriate. There's nothing worse than being the only adult in a sea of children. So here is how I work my game. If the flowers come in my direction I'll reach my hand up into the air, but I won't dive. so if I get it I get it. So Anna tossed her flowers, they sailed in the air and really down into my hands they fell. This makes #2 for me, but I didn't dry them like I did the last ones. Simply because I don't have enough room. But aren't the pretty.

Flowers & Teapots

It took me a little bit to load these photos to my hard drive, procrastination:/ But these were the flowers that Sherri gave to Sandi and I for our Birthday.

Aren't the lovely?

And this was the teapot that I received from last months Secret Prayer Sister. I really enjoy tea! Nothing in it thank you. I'll take it straight up. Diana was a great SPS to have, I totally had it wrong all month. Normally I don't like to guess, but I was sure that it was someone else. She said a little birdy told her that I liked tea and so with it I received some sleepytime tea and other various herbal blends.

I've never had a teapot like this before. So it will be a nice and refreshing treat to use whenever I want a spot of tea. Thanks Diana:)

My March SPS

My March SPS (Secret Prayer Sister) was Kali:) And one of the gifts she gave me brought a lot of color to my otherwise gray afternoon after I arrived home from work.

I'm not a person that has a green thumb, but for the few weeks that my gift looked pretty these pretty ladies were nice to come home to after a long day in the office. Here are some of my favorite photos that I took, with my SLR.

As you can see the sun eventually came back out that afternoon, which made for some great photos. Kali and I have been friends for 3 years now. Part of how our friend ship started was her becoming my prayer sister within the first year of her joining the adult women for our monthly Bible studies. I have every confidence that even though she'll be moving soon that tour friendship will continue. Thanks for the flowers Kali!

Calling All Gardeners

Every flower must grow through dirt.
~ Anonymous ~

I have some friends who embarking on a new endeavor in the world of gardening, and so I'm posting a little something in the hopes that people will want to catch on to what they are doing.

My friend Alyssa (A of AK Creations) some time back became inspired to start garden, vertical style, after reading about it in a book. Fortunately enough she happens to work for another set of friends of mine that have the ability to support this decision. The happenings at A Knot in Thyme are never short on fun and ispiration and the Rawls family that runs the Holly & Lavender Farm have a great spirit that sets the place apart from others. It's a team effort there and they really enjoy what they do.

Anyway, I can't really tell Alyssa's story for her because it's her vision and she tells it better than I do. However, I do know that she was inspried to start the blog to show others how to do it, as she learns herself, since when she did look online for information there was none to be found. So my fellow readers I would like to invite you to follow Alyssa along on her adventure at The Vertical Garden.

Like Albert Eistein said:
Everything that is really great and inspiring is created by the individual who can labour in freedom.

Continue to labour freely Alyssa:)

My SPS

Once a month, on the Second Monday of the month us ladies at Bible Baptist Church are able to get together for a Ladies Bible Fellowship. Here we are ministered to by Mrs. Vicki Sargent, out Pastors wife and we also get the opportunity to participate in the monthly Secret Prayer Sister draw. We write our names down on pieces of paper and any special prayer requests that we have, which is getting spoiled enough, but we also get to spoil each other with gifts, if we can, cards of special thoughts are always good too. Just something to let them know that you are keeping them in yout prayers.

Anyway, last month for the first time in 6 years Sherri drew my name (I also finally drew her name earlier on in the year). So on the last day of the SPS month she (this past monday) she sent me this cheerful bouquet of flowers. Which was a pleasant sight after the long weekend, and even nicer throughout the very trying week that I've had. They definitely made my desk a much happier place to be at.

The Gerba daisies were bright and cheery and they were just a pleasant surprise to recieve. Of course my co workers with were hoping for some juicier news than I got them from my dear friend, but no such luck. Later that night I also received a very nice card and some chocolate from her candy shop.

Thank you again Sherri for just being there for me over the past 6 years. I'm so glad that we've gotten to not just be friends, but work with each other in our Sunday School class. Your friendship has simply been a blessing to me. Thank You!

#4 on my list,Get flowers for 30 people (#2)

My co-worker Sarah went home sick today (there's a nasty bug going around) so I sent her some virtual flowers (i.e. a picture from the net).

Time is really flying by on this list and though I have 2 items completed, I still have much left to so. I probably won't complete all of them, but it would be nice to at least make a dent. Overall though the list is coming along. I'm enjoying myself with it and it's fun entertaining my friends. Seriously, I know we're way overdue for some girls nights, but once the summer is over it seems like there's never enough time. Don't worry Nicki we'll have one soon.

# 4 on my list, Get Flowers for 30 people (#1)

OK, so I know that when you say get flowers that usually means that you spend $60, call a florist, and have the delivered to someone. However, the novel idea came to me as a friend was upset today, and so I sent her flowers via the internet. I simply went on google, found a pic of some pretty ones, did some Photoshop adjustments, and voila! She was even able to put them on her desk, by puting the flowers as her wallpaper on her PC. It just goes to prove that sometimes the best things in life really are free. So 1 down and 29 more to go!

1. Sarah
