Team work

I thought it was interesting because as you can see from the pics, instead of the Chinese being all spread out, like us Americans, they put their beach umbrellas closer together to add more shade on the beach, which grants them more protection from the sun.

Rather that thinking of themselves as individuals, this would probably suggest that they think of themselves as a collective or unit, which enables them to take better care of each other, rather then maintaining the autonomy that Americans do.

Imagine what we could achieve if we all worked together!

Misplaced hope

So I know it's way past Christmas, but this is just funny. . .

The Six degrees of Kevin Bacon

I have penetrated the inner sanctum. . .
OK Yes, I know it's a game, but I can connect myself to Kevin Bacon. Here's how . . .

1. I was babysat by, the late, Ed Landers (of St. Elsewhere fame) and his wife when I was younger

2. Ed was on 'St. Elswhere' with Denzel Washington

3. Denzel was in the 'Pelican Brief' with Julia Roberts

4. Julia was in 'Flatliners' with Kevin Bacon

Just felt like sharing that little tid bit about me. Hope ya'll are having a good day:)

P.S. That means that anyone who knows me is connected as well! Congradulations!

Kevin Bacon, devoted husband for more than 18 years.

School

School is off to a grand start. I say that with trepedation only because so much can change in a quarter. I met with my counselor today and she gave me a outlook as to what I need to take over the coming year. There are so many hoops to jump through. Like I can only take 5 credits of a Language and have that count for and Art credit, even though I need 15 Art credits and all three quarters of Spanish, but it's their school I know they can do as they see fit. It's just aggravating! However, I've waited long enough to get this show on the road.

Some things I've learned along this road:
  • It's OK to fail, otherwise you can't know what success is like
  • If you spend to much time planning for tomorrow you'll miss the gifts that the present holds
  • Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do what you desire to, you're the only one who can make those decisions
  • Realize that people will offer unsolicited advice, listen, consider the source, use the information that will help you and move on
  • Not everyone will understand, don't expect them to, after all it is your dream

Those are just some of them, but they're very helpful to remember.

So 2008 has started, hopefully the lessons that have been learned in 2007 will not be forgotten. I've already made one new friend this year (YAY Julie), and it's only been 8 days strong. How 'bout you?
