He's to clever for his own good

This is the face of a mastermind. Sure he's cute, sure he's a good buddy, but man o man he's a character. The more that he starts to feel comfortable the more he lets his personality start to come out and this week I got to learn a new facet of it.

See Sunday was my graduation from Bible Institute. YAY!!! I'm done...until a new class gets added. But that's another story. However, some of my friends chose to bestow certain gifts upon me to congratulate my efforts and included in one of those gifts were some Hershey Kisses...Yum!

Well Monday night we had a baby shower for Selena and I came home to discover that I am not the only one that likes them. Strewn accross my bedroom floor were about a dozen opened kiss wrappers, which was odd because I thought that I had more in the bag. Now chocolate is not good for dogs, and since Riley is the first dog that has stricly been mine I was concerned about what might happen to him (as a side note I'm happy to report that Riley is doing fine). It was amusing, I thought, that he should have thought to discard the foil from the kisses to get to the good stuff. So that's it right, I thought I'd just keep an eye on him and the next day he was fine. Well at least until Wednesday.

Wednesday afternoon I arrived home after work to see, what I thought were torn up papers on my couch. Torn up papers I thought, until I went over to go & see what exactly it was. Wanna take a guess as to what it was? If you guessed Hershey Kiss wrappers, well then you're right (sorry no prizes on this side). That's right, my clever little guy hid the rest of the kisses (where I don't know), but the thing of it is that he hid them so he would have them for later! Again it wasn't really funny, because who's to know how more chocolate would have affected him (again he's fine), but I had to laugh because he's just too smart for his collar.

So now not only his he a good buddy & a character, but he's also clever, sneaky and has quite a sweet tooth. It's nice to see more of his personality start to show through & that he's letting his fur down as he gets used to his new set up.

T is for Talent

P is for Piano...

and R is for recital...

This was where I was at on Tueday night, at my talented friend Alyssa's piano recital. I'm really happy that I got to go to this one. Alyssa played 2 pieces of music

Faure- Berceuse from "Dolly" Suite

Debussy- Arabesque No. 1

I just love watching her play. He posture is so straight & knowing her personally she works really hard to make sure that she's always playing her best. I hope you enjoyed them too. It was a nigth well spent with friends.

Riley gets his groom on

This pic is mostly for Selena since she said she was wanting to see my boy. Since I'm not sure if he'll be coming with me up there is August here is Riley freshly groomed. I can't believe he stayed still enough for me to get it.

I'm happy I found a groomer that is willing to be patient with him as he continue to learn that being touched is OK. The other night I was working on touching his paws (which he hates), but he was humoring me with it, when I found another sign of his old life. Now the same back paw I knew at some point had been broken because it never properly healed & has a dent in it where the bone sort of pokes out, but on the bottom of his paw, one of his peds looks like it had been burned, pretty severely too. I can hardly even tell that that's what it was it was so scared over. I only know it was one of his peds because the bottom of his other paws look all the same except for that one. So sad that people will hurt something that's basically helpless against them.

Even though I liked his hair a little longer, he was getting to many knots in it for me to keep up with brushing them out. Not to mention that all that fluff made him look pudgy (hmmm, to bad I don't look thinner after my haircuts). But a plus with the shorter hair is that he's been sneezing a lot less around the house, as I'm sure that the pollen & grass was sticking to his coat. So I think I'll be keeping it short. Not to mention that for the $35 I spent he got his fur washed & cut, teeth brushed, ears cleaned & a MUCH needed claw trimming. And all the grooming he'll get at the there will hopefully add up to touch therapy for him so he can start to relearn that people are OK. Seriously now, for my $35 hair cut the other day all I got was a trim, of which I had to actually ask the hair dresser to give me a blow dry, and a lot of attitude from the receptionist at the salon, something's wrong with this picture. I think I need to find myself a new groomer too;)

Priorities

So as a general rule people know that most men aren't that great at multi-tasking but this guys priorities are all outta whack

My favorite part is probably when the girl pushes her Dad away. She known what his priorty is and sadly it wasn't her. Eph 6:4a - And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath.

However, here's a mom (not at the same game) that really can have her baseball and catch it too.

Let's see now...Mom protected her offspring & caught the ball. Dad sacrifices child for the sake of his own glory and misses, bruising more than his ego. I think it's pretty clear that when you have the right priorities you can get the things that you want. And that includes a base ball.
