Another AMAZING find!

Twice in one week!!! It's almost to good to be true, and this is when I LOVE to go thrifting. Not to just buy used stuff, unless it can be re-purposed, but to find those really great deals!  When I lived in CA there was a lot to be found, but not so often anymore now that I live in a smaller community. So here's the story...

Once upon a time, i.e.yesterday, I had the opportunity to got to the thrift store again. At a time when I would normally be at work, I was unable to be due to a favor that I was doing for a friend. The appointment was at such a time that by the time it was over driving back to work would have put me back there in time to leave again and so with operating on my paid time off, the rest of the afternoon was mine so I decided to go to the thrift store again while I was killing time waiting for church to start.

With my new renewed desire to get back into a physically fit shape I noticed the other day that I need new workout shoes. Anyone that works out knows that these can get kinda pricey depending on what you want them for. So I decided to wait another couple weeks until payday.

I was walking around the store, not really finding anything. That is until my eyes landed on these....

Brand spankin' new Asics running shoes, in my size and only....$15!!! Seriously there was nothing wrong with these shoes. And when I tried them on after getting home, they fit like a glove. I wore them around today to break them in and they were super comfy too. So...you wanna know what they retail for??? I know you do. These were last seasons running shoe so at the beginning they were $85, now they are on salr & running about $60! That's a savings of $45-70 :) It's fabulous. Now...about that running...

An AMAZING find!

The title of this blog post doesn't even begin to express my excitement...no...ELATION at finding this super cool appliance!

If you don't know what this is let me tell you that this is a Cuisinart 6QT electric pressure cooker!!! 

If you've never used a pressure cooker, or are for some reason wary of them let me assure you that there is nothing to be concerned about. I luv the pressure cooker that I got for Christmas a few years ago from my Dad, so that's not going anywhere. But once I saw the electric one in Williams Sonoma, one of the best stores ever, I knew that I would want one for my kitchen as I work on expanding my domestic prowess. However, they retail for $100. So that was not going to be a purchase that I would be making anytime soon, there's always something better that I can do with $100. At least that's what we ladies tell ourselves right? Whenever we hold off from a major purchase that seems to be our default statement. However today those excuses were put away, when I went to the local thrift store.

I wasn't really in the mood to buy anything in particular, I was mostly just wasting time until it was time to meet up with Nicki for a Mani-Pedi. So I went inside thinking that maybe I would be able to find myself some yarn for some quick crochet projects. Alas there was no yarn to be had, I bet Leah bought it all ;), but I digress. So I decided to peruse the next isle over & I could hardly believe my eyes. Behold...in front of them was a Cuisinart pressure cooker. The very electric pressure cooker that I had been wanting for a long time. I looked at the price tag & saw that it said $21.99 (NO DISCOUNT) on it. Seriously?! Was this even priced right? was all I could think to myself. Does it even work? was my next thought. So I texted my friend Leah, yarn bandit extraordinaire, a pic and asked what she thought. She said to go for it. I mean really it sounds like a no-brainer, but I guess I was still too surprised to make any logic out of it. As I was standing in line near the counter, so i could plug it in to check out if it worked, a woman came up to my cart & asked me what it was. "An Cuisinart electric pressure cooker" I answered. I could see the look in her eye that only a thrift store shopper would know. It conveyed what I suspected, that if I let go of it, she would be the first one to snatch it up. No such luck lady! I got to the front & plugged it in. Voila! the red lights on it showed that it was well in working condition.

And when I got home after my manicure I checked out the Cuisinart website & was even able to download the manual for it, as well as a recipe book for free (the same that would have come with the box had it been brand new). The cook book has a lot of fun recipes, including one for cheesecake! PTL, what a great find!!! Now what to make for my first meal? That is the question. 

I think I found them

Don't you hate it when you loose the perfect pair of shoes to an unfortunate incident. For almost a year now I've been looking for replacement Mary Janes to the pait that I lost to a fateful game of beach golf. In any case today I won an eBay bid for these black Mary Jane Clarks for only $18.01. With shipping cost and tax they ended up being $30.06. This is actually a really great deal since Clarks usually run about $50. YAY me!!! Anyway, the pics are below. Seriously how cute are they?

I hope that this ends the quest for my pair of black Mary Janes!

The Best Deal Ever

In all of the sickness of last week I forgot to blog about the greatest deal that I've ever made in the case of school books:) And it happened totally by accident.

So all of my homework and tests for math are done in a online program called My Math Lab (courtesy of the folks at Course Compass). This program by itself costs $71, and if it's purchased inside of a book package the whole cost for the my math book and the computer code for My Math Lab costs $177. Oi Vay!!! Well in my effot to conserve what I could on my Visa I decided that the cheapest route to take was to buy the My Math Lab from Skagit, and the text from eBay. Which I did. Via eBay I ended up paying $59 for the text book, with the CD's from the book, and the correesponding answer books. So with the $71 for the My Math Lab and the $59 for the text I ended up spending a total of $136, a savings of $41 if I had bought everything from the campus book store. Not bad, I thought initially, it could have been worse. However, it actually gets a whole lot better!

When I received the text book from the seller on eBay, it came with a un opened My Math Lab code, which meant that it had not been tied to a class yet, which also meant that I could return the one that I spent $71 on and get that money back! So, what did I end up spending on my math book + My Math Lab a whopping $59!!! This is the greatest deal that I've worked so far for one of my text books. Especially since the code was so ecpensive by itself. I mean they don't even include a disc or anything. Crazy!

Anyway, I had to share that because it ended up being sucha great deal:) Maybe I should major in economics;)

Shoes Glorious Shoes

OK, I'll admit, much to my "teams" shagrin, that I'm not one of those girls that has a fettish for footwear, I'm more of a jacket girl, but when you can find shoes like this on eBay then I really do become a fan of shoes.

Seriously, how cute are they!!!

You'll die when I tell you what I got these shoes for. Normally this pair of Karen Scott pumps will for retail $50. I got them for $2.64!!! So because I got them for so cheap I decided to splurge on the shipping so they could get to me in a couple days rather than a week, which they would be normally. Even with the extra money I spent, $15.94, I still come in under $20. AWESOME!!!

I hope I get them in time for my trip to St. Louis!
